The UC Berkeley Department of Mathematics invites applications for a pool of part- time, non-tenure track Lecturer positions. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the math department. Positions are temporary, and appointments are typically for one semester.


Teaching Responsibilities: We seek outstanding lecturers capable of teaching one or more courses in the undergraduate Mathematics curriculum. Courses will be assigned on an as-needed basis. A listing of courses is available at http://math.berkeley.edu/courses/choosing/course-descriptions.


General duties: Lecturers are expected to teach classes, hold office hours, develop syllabi and assignments, write, administer, and grade exams, assign course grades, and maintain course website(s). Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair as necessary.


Qualifications: The minimum qualifications required for consideration as an applicant for the position are completion of all PhD or equivalent degree requirements except the dissertation, by the time of application. Documented experience in teaching Mathematics at the college level is also required at the time of application. A PhD or equivalent degree in Mathematics or a related field is required by the start date.


Salary: The minimum annual full-time salary rate is $52,099 based on a full-time teaching load. The starting compensation for teaching one course per semester is approximately $8,600. Salary is commensurate with experience.
