NYUAD Research Engineer - Division of Engineering

 

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates



The Robotics Group in the Engineering Division at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking to fill one research engineer position in the area of Collaborative Robotics starting at the earliest on July 2017. The selected research engineer will perform research in the area of collaborative control of mobile robots for visual coverage/surveillance purposes. The position includes mostly simulation studies for navigating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) so as to inspect an area under consideration. Upon successful completion of these studies, at a subsequent stage the objective is to proceed to experimental studies initially on Unmanned Ground Vehicles and then to UAVs. These will be equipped with on-board visual sensors, Lidar, RGB-D cameras, and Inertial Management Units. The successful applicant is expected to participate in the writing of articles in journals and international conferences. Applicants with a Master degree or a degree equivalent to 300 units according to the European Credit Transfer System http://www.ehea.info/ in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or other related field are encouraged to apply.

 

Applicants must have a Master degree or equivalent in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering with a focus in the area of Robotics and Control. Excellent programming skills in C, C++ and Matlab are necessary. Significant experience in OpenCV, and Robot Operating System (ROS) is desired. The applicant should have an adequate publication record in the mobile robotics and control areas. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in fast paced environment multi-disciplinary teams and cultural sensitivity are essential.
