ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN LOW POWER ENERGY HARVESTING AND I-SOLUTIONS (42227)

 

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Energy Technology a position as Associate Professor in Low Power Energy Harvesting and I-solutions is open for appointment from 1 September 2017, or soon hereafter. The position is offered for a 4 year period (01/09/2017-31/08/2021) in relation to a new research program "Low Power Energy Harvesting and I-solutions" and the associate professor is expected to have a central role in the development of this new program. The associate professor will be a member of the Section for Thermofluids. The Department of Energy Technology is an expanding department covering most fields of Energy Technology ranging from electrical energy (Power Systems, Power Electronics and Electrical Machines) to thermal energy including Energy Systems, Fluid Mechanics and Combustion but also mechatronic systems. The department has about 250 employees – out of them are more than 100 Ph.D. students. The laboratory-facilities are world-class and the research carried out is most often in collaboration with industry.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Research areas will be within design, development and optimization of thermoelectric devices with focus on thermal transport properties and heat exchangers design. It is expected that the candidate has a solid background in analysis, modelling and design of thermoelectric devices, including experimental work Research management and PhD supervision experience will be beneficial, though not a requirement, as will experience with applying for external funding. Thus, this should be documented in the application. Experience with funding applications is beneficial.



Teaching will primarily be in the field of heat and mass transfer, thermal energy systems and thermoelectricity, but also in other study programs at the University. Furthermore, the applicant is expected to have passed an assistant professor (pedagogical) course and should be able to teach in Danish and English, with the latter at a level C1 of the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR), or similar.

Qualification requirements: 



The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. 



Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
