The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire an outstanding doctoral researcher at the Computer Science and Communications Research Unit. The position is part of the FNR PRIDE doctoral training programme on “Security and Privacy for System Protection”.


The successful candidate will participate in the activities of the Security and Trust of Software Systems (SaToSS) research group. The SaToSS group is working on formalising and applying formal reasoning to real-world security problems and trust issues. The research topics of the group include: security protocols, security modeling, formal methods for security, socio-technical aspects of security, risk management, privacy, etc. For further information, you may consult http://satoss.uni.lu/.

  • Fixed term employment (14 months fixed-term contract, renewable up to 36 months in total, pending satisfaction of progress milestones)
  • On full-time basis (40 hours/week)

Your Role

 

The focus of the PhD project is on adaptive cyber defenses. The PhD candidate will develop models and techniques to measure the effectiveness of adaptive cyber defenses and provide means to decide how to deploy a given defense efficiently especially for a cloud computing and SDN-based infrastructure. 



The candidate’s main task will consist in contributing to the research within the SaToSS research group and preparing a doctoral dissertation. The candidate will also contribute to teaching and co-supervising master/bachelor students.

Your Profile

  • A Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or related field
  • Strong background in the theory and practice of security, software and/or distributed systems and networks will be considered as an advantage
  • Commitment, team working, self-motivated and a critical mind
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory
