Research subject

The main task is to devote yourself to your own research education, which includes participation in research projects and postgraduate courses. The assignments also include participation in teaching and other institutional work (max 20%). The employment is limited to 5 years (at 20% institutional service). Provisions for employment as a PhD student are in the Higher Education Ordinance (1998: 80).

We are currently seeking a PhD student for a project in software testing aimed at investigating and developing methods for evaluating a test process and proposing adequate and evidence-based improvements to it.

Software testing is a basic but challenging activity in all forms of software development and a lot of research has already been done in the field. However, its results are not fully utilized in industry. In this project we want to investigate the gap between theory and practice in software testing and, in the long run, design theories and tools that help bridge the gap. Important issues of interest to the project are sociotechnical problem formulations of software exploration challenges and knowledge management in the industry-academy interface.

The research is conducted in close collaboration with industry partners and part of the work is placed in the industrial environment. The employment includes research (80%) and teaching (20%). The research includes, in particular, empirical studies, which means the collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data. Research also includes research courses.

The PhD student project is conducted within ELLIIT, a state-funded research community aimed at encouraging strong research in information technology and mobile communications. ELLIIT is a platform for both basic and applied research and has four partners: Linköping University, Lund University, Halmstad University and Blekinge University of Technology.
