Professorship in Mathematics focusing on Dynamic Systems/Stochastics
(salary grade W 3)


The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching.


Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).


The successful candidate will have internationally visible research findings concerning current issues in the field of mathematics of dynamic systems and stochastic processes and with a clear connection to possible fields of application. Candidates will have a profound track record of university teaching and the ability and willingness to teach classes in English. Furthermore, the selectee will have experience in the scientific concept development, acquiring funding for, and carrying out, sponsored research.


Apart from the official duties that the appointee has to fulfil in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act in particular, the following activities need to be fulfilled additionally: 


The appointee will be expected to dedicate herself/himself to collaborating in the newly established Collaborative Research Center SFB 1114 Scaling Cascades in Complex Systems, and to become involved in other initiatives of the ECMath - Einstein Center for Mathematics Berlin. The appointee will responsibly manage the lecture cycle Dynamic Systems I-III and Stochastics I-III of the master’s degree program Mathematics. Additionally, she or he will also be involved in the teaching of the basic lectures in the bachelor’s degree program Mathematics. The advanced seminars will partly be available for international students of the Berlin Mathematical School, therefore, the professor will also teach in English. If applicable, she or he will be prepared to acquire language skills within a reasonable period of time.
