The Department of Informatics and Media (IM) is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University. The institution's employees develop knowledge about current and future communication and information distribution forms. The Department consists of three subject areas: Information Systems (IS), Human-Computer Interaction (MDI) and Media and Communication Studies (MKV), including journalism. The teaching in MKV is a master's program in Media and Communication Science and Journalism (180hp) and our one-year journalism education, as well as Master's degree in Digital Media and Society (a Master of Science in Social Sciences) and Master's Program in Management, Communication and IT (MKIT). MKV research is structured around three themes: 1) Communication, and material and discursive power dynamics; 2) Communication, participation and empowerment; and 3) Communication, Identity and Differences.

 

MKV has an available temporary part-time job as a lecturer in organizational communication.

 

Assignments


Teaching at undergraduate and master's level and supervision of essays. The focus is primarily on organizational communication, but areas that are also covered are Corporate and Strategic and Communication. Applicants are expected to be responsible for courses within these fields, but additional areas may also be included. The tasks include responsibility for courses, course development, teaching and administrative work at the department. The employee is offered research on time and resources available.

 

Qualifications


To have permission to apply for the service, a doctoral degree in media and communication studies or equivalent academic qualifications is required. Furthermore, the applicant must have experience in teaching and research. Applicants must have undergone relevant educational education or have acquired equivalent knowledge. The applicant must have the necessary social qualities and cooperative skills that enable well-functioning collaborations both within and outside the institution.

 

Desirable / meriting in general: The ideal candidate has extensive and extensive knowledge in the field of organizational communication, but is also knowledgeable in communication and media studies and models with a particular focus on Corporate and Strategic Communication.

The applicant must submit the following documents:

  • full CV (including publication list)

  • certificate of teaching experience (describing the pedagogical principles that the applicant works from outside)

  • a research report (describing the applicant's research interest)

  • two or three references from relevant persons

 

The applicant may be invited to an interview or be commissioned to conduct a test lecture as part of the application process.

 

Language: The applicant must be able to teach in Swedish. Good knowledge of English is meritorious.
