research Focus


At Umeå University, didactic research focuses on science and technology within the framework of an institutional and faculty-wide network, Umeå Science Education Research (UmSER). Within UmSER, research projects are conducted in various areas aimed at increasing knowledge about the importance of teaching, content, context, gender, motivation and attitudes for learning and interest in science. When appointing the vacancies, we prioritize postdoctors who complement and collaborate with one or more research groups / researchers, but there is also the opportunity to do their own didactic research projects if they add theoretical or methodological skills that complement UmSER's activities. Qualifications


Qualifying is the one who has obtained a doctorate or has a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate in the didactics of the natural sciences, educational work or equivalent subject matter for the employment. In the first place, it should be considered as a diploma no more than three years before the end of the application period, unless special reasons exist (eg parental leave).


When assessing the applicants, particular importance will be attached to scientific skill. Previous scientific publications in international journals relevant to the field of research are a strong merit. Scientific proficiency is also assessed through the quality of the research plan. Experience in didactic research in science or technology is a requirement. Practical experiences of educational work, ie teaching and development work, are meritorious, as well as experience in managing and managing projects. Good ability to interact with other researchers is a requirement. Good knowledge of English, in both speech and writing, is a requirement.

The employment concerns full-time research. A postdoctor is expected to participate actively in the institution's and UmSER's research environment, for example in seminars, supervision of doctoral students and / or participation in postgraduate courses.


The employment is full-time for two years. Access will take place 2018-01-15 or by appointment.

(iv) A copy of the doctoral thesis and a maximum of 5 relevant publications are attached,
