Research Assistant in NUS Computing/Smart National University of Singapore, School of Computing (SoC)

RESEARCH ASSISTANT, NUS COMPUTING/SMART

Applications are sought for a Research Assistant to work on the SimMobility project.

SimMobility is a simulation platform developed by the Future Urban Mobility Group in SMART (Singapore MIT Alliance For Research and Technology). It is an integrated model of human and commerical activities, land use, transportation, environmental impacts, and energy use. It is also an integrated agent based micro-simulaion model with three levels: Long Term, macroscopic simulator of land use and real estate market; Medium Term, mesoscopic simulator of activity based travel demand and Short Term, microscopic simulator of transportation network performance.

The simulator is in development stage and owing to the enormity of the project, it requires constant effort /attention to improve the performance of SimMobility in all three levels.

The project will involve applying parallel/distributed techniques to speed up the simulation. Novel techniques like use of GPU may also be investigated.
