PhD Student in Autonomous Systems and Software Royal Institute of Technology

PhD student in autonomous systems and software

Royal Institute of Technology,

KTH is one of Europe's leading technical universities and an important arena for knowledge development. As Sweden's largest university of technical research and education, we gather students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers both natural sciences and all branches of technology as well as architecture, industrial economics, social planning, technical history and philosophy.

duties

The student will participate in a group of prof. Benoit Baudry who automatically investigates the synthesis of different variants of software components. This work aims to continually develop distributed programs to prevent "single points of failure". The scientific method in this work is empirical and case studies, where we evaluate the diversification technology of large, true software systems. For more information, see: http://people.rennes.inria.fr/Benoit.Baudry/selected-publications/

This doctoral dissertation will investigate strategies and algorithms to automatically develop a set of program clients (found when using multiple copies of an application stack in the cloud) to a population of diversified program components. Diversification should be continuous, by observing the execution terms and through automatic conversions at different levels of the software.

The PhD student is expected to publish in the strongest international conferences and journals in software engineering. The working language is English.

Wallenberg's Self-Management System and Software Program (WASP) finances this PhD student position. WASP is Sweden's single largest research program and is a platform for academic research and education, which promotes cooperation with Sweden's leading technology companies. See http://wasp-sweden.org/ .
