The professorship "Monitoring of Large Structures" at the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH) offers a


PhD position (computer science, electrical engineering, geodesy or a comparable subject)
Part-time position (70%), start date: immediately


The research and development goals of the Chair of "Monitoring Large Structures" at the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH) are divided into three main areas: inspection, data analysis and interpretation and the implementation of complete system chains. In all three areas we work closely with the Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Technology IPM. The focus is on methodological development and implementation in the form of processes and software.

 

As part of the doctoral thesis, a process chain for the implementation of the video recordings of the bladder from an endoscope to a 3D model will be developed. For this purpose, the theoretical basics are to be worked out, processes implemented and experimentally investigated. For this, image series are extracted from video sequences and then equalized by a special calibration procedure and adapted for the subsequent modeling process. The process is to be designed and implemented in close cooperation with an endoscope manufacturer. This should be the latest hardware developments in the reconstruction process can be used.

 

The doctoral position is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

- University degree (Master or Diploma) in computer science, electrical engineering, geodesy or a similar subject
- Experience in programming (Python, Java and / or, C ++)
