University lecturer in mathematics didactics

 

The Department of Teacher Education has about 360 employees and has a full-bodied teacher education offer for primary and secondary education with approximately 4000 students. The institute has a broad continuing and further education portfolio for teachers and school leaders and a special offer in bachelor in archive and collective management. Several of the programs are given in collaboration with other parts of NTNU. The National Center for Mathematics in Education and the National Center for Writing and Literature Research is part of the department. NTNU and the Department of Teacher Education are host institutions for the National Research School for Teacher Education (NAFOL) and have their own PhD program in professional research with a focus on teacher education and school. The institute has extensive research activities aimed at school and education.

 

At the Department of Teacher Education there is a full-time permanent position as Senior Lecturer in Mathematical Didactics.

 

The institute offers a 2-year master's degree in mathematics didactics. In addition, subjects in mathematics and mathematics didactics included in the five-year master's programs in elementary school teacher education, teacher education 8-13 and practical-pedagogical education. NTNU also offers further education in mathematics for teachers in both primary and secondary schools. From autumn 2017, elementary education is offered as a 5-year master's degree program.

 

The subject section for mathematics currently has two professors II, 17 associate professors and 10 permanent professors and two university lecturers in temporary employment. In addition, there are two fellows.

 

In addition to formal professional qualifications, personal fitness will be given great weight. Current candidates will be invited to interview and to conduct an education situation based on the given topic. Students will normally be present in the teaching situation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in teaching, counseling and assessment of teacher students
  • Participate actively in the further development of the subject in an exciting changeover time in teacher education
  • Participate in and further develop our continuing education
  • Together with the rest staff, the positions will cover the main areas within the mathematics subject in teacher education, such as numerical concepts, development of numerical understanding, geometric concepts, different representations in mathematics, including the role of language for mathematics learning, and argumentation and evidence in mathematics.
  • Contribute to the department's research and strategic initiatives

 

qualifications

  • He who is employed as a university lecturer must have a master's degree / major in mathematics didactics / mathematics. If the master's degree is in mathematics didactics, it is desirable that the candidate has a broader mathematical background, equivalent to an annual study in mathematics.
  • When employed, emphasis is placed on education, scientific production, dissemination and experience from educational work.
  • Educational experience from Norwegian undergraduate education and / or other relevant educational institutions will be given great importance.
  • Teaching experience from Norwegian elementary school will be given great importance.
  • It is desirable that applicants have skills related to ICT work in learning processes.
  • It is desirable with practical university education skills or equivalent. Those who are employed without having such competence and can not document equivalent qualifications are required to pass an approved course in university education within two years of employment. NTNU offers qualifying courses.
  • Good oral and written formulation in a Scandinavian language. Applicants who lack such competence are required to document Norwegian language skills at level B2 in accordance with the common European Language Framework within 3 years of employment.

 

In addition to formal qualifications, personal qualities such as independence, solution orientation, collegial cooperation, student involvement, creativity and motivation will be given great importance.

 

The assessment will be based on documented scientific work, experience from teaching and counseling in mathematics didactics, as well as educational background of another kind. Quality and width will be considered. Current candidates will be invited to trial and interview.

 

Wages and working conditions

 

University Lecturer Code 1009 is paid with minimum annual salary kr. 412 200, - The employee will normally be paid from kr. 412 200, - to kr. 621800, - in 100% position, from this deduct 2% statutory contribution to the Government Pension Fund.

 

The employment is made on the terms that apply to state employees at any time, and the employee must find any changes in the work area.

 

It is a prerequisite that the employee is settled so that he or she may be present at and available to the institution.
