The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) delivers a range of degree programmes including core programmes in computer science and software engineering alongside a range of specialist masters. Our degree programmes are very much in demand from students. We have strong collaborative links with the regional high-tech sector; a factor that enriches our teaching and module delivery.

We have established a software academy that is housed in our new £14m Computer Science building. Through the academy, we will teach contemporary software engineering practices alongside offering a range of distance and blended learning, conversion programmes for those wishing to move into careers in software development.

We wish to appoint a passionate Lecturer (Education) who will help us enrich our software engineering programmes. The appointee will have a real opportunity to shape and determine how contemporary software engineering is taught within higher education through developing partnerships with employers and delivering teaching that inspires our students. We particularly welcome applicants with experience of distance/blended learning or those with employment experience as software engineers


The successful candidate must have:


•  At least a 2.1 honours degree (or equivalent) in a technology or computing related discipline.

•  A computing related PhD (or be about to obtain).

•  Either a minimum of three years’ post qualification experience of computing within a third level institution, or a minimum of three years’ experience as a software engineer

•  Ability to design course materials and to plan and organise the delivery and assessment of taught courses in software engineering.

•  Ability to communicate clearly.

•  High level of analytical capability, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

•  Evidence of ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary scale:            £35,550 - £49,149 per annum (potential to progress to £52,132 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
