Faculty of Information Technology is currently seeking to fulfill 1-2 Senior Lecturer positions as of 1.10.2018 or as agreed, for the present.

 

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is the first and largest in its field in Finland. The IT Faculty’s mission is to take on the challenges in research and education brought on by the developing information technology and digitalization. In research, education and stakeholder collaboration, the Faculty combines comprehensively technology and information to the viewpoints of organisations, business and people. The IT Faculty employs 200 people and, currently, there are 2200 undergraduate students and 150 postgraduate students. Teaching is arranged both in Finnish and in English.    


A senior lecturer in the Faculty of Information Technology works in teaching and research in the subject of Information systems. The position focuses on teaching.   

 

The position centers on teaching in the bachelor and master’s programmes of Information systems and thesis instruction. Teaching of information systems focuses on, for example, developing information systems, service business, software business, information management, interaction between people and technology, and cyber security. The teaching of information systems is organized for students in bachelor and master’s programmes. In the international master’s programmes the language of teaching is English. The senior lecturer takes part in developing education.

A senior lecturer of Information systems is expected to have versatile knowledge of the field as well as extensive experience in teaching. Particularly knowledge in software business, information management, developing information systems or cyber security is emphasized. Additionally, comprehensive experience in teaching and thesis instruction is expected from the appointed candidate. The education and research profile of the candidate appointed to the position should strengthen the know-how of information systems particularly. The senior lecturer is also expected to participate in postgraduate education. Previous involvement in high scale, multidisciplinary research and applying for research funding as well as international cooperation is considered as a benefit.

 

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of Senior Lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The selected person is required to have a command of Finnish language. In certain cases, the University may grant exemption from this requirement. A good command of English language and an ability to teach in English are regarded as advantageous for the applicant.

 

The job-specific salary component of a Senior Lecturer is based on the job demands level 5-7 (EUR 2 893,95– 3 889,94/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to the maximum of 46.3% of the job-specific salary component is also paid.
