A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious individual to undertake theoretical and computational research that assesses the performance of contemporary numerical methods on anticipated future quantum computing systems. The project will look to propose enhancements to popular contemporary numerical algorithms to improve suitability to quantum architectures as well as provide a framework for practical numerical algorithm development for quantum machines for use by engineers in modelling and simulation.

 

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, physics, or engineering, and have specialist knowledge in quantum mechanics or quantum computing. Expertise in developing numerical methods and parallel code for research in continuum or quantum mechanics is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
