New Call for GSSI PhD Applications 2024/25 now open
Gran Sasso Science Institute has published the new call for the 40th cycle of the PhD. 42 scholarships are available (one more than last year), for the four academic programmes: 10 for Astroparticle Physics, 10 for Computer Science and 10 for Regional Science and Economic Geography; 12 for the Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences program. 2 Math's grants are financed within the two ERC - European Research Council projects: 1 for the CardioTrials project and 1 for the MatCh project.
The new call provides for a gross annual scholarship of 16,243 euros; accommodation in the GSSI facilities or a financial contribution, food and other benefits listed in the call. The application for admission must be completed using exclusively the online procedure available on the GSSI website at www.gssi.it/phd/. Applications for participation received in any other way are not accepted. The official language of the PhD courses is English.
The deadline for submitting applications is set for May 23, 2024 at 3 pm (Italian time) for the doctoral courses in Astroparticle Physics, Computer Science, Regional Science and Economic Geography and Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences (including the MaTCh project ). For the ERC CardioTrials project grant only, the deadline is set for 3pm (Italian time) on 26 August 2024.
The GSSI-Gran Sasso Science Institute is an international PhD school and a center for research and higher education in the areas of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Social Sciences. Founded in 2012 in L’Aquila (Italy) as Center for Advanced Studies of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and then established in March 2016 as a School of Advanced Studies providing post-graduate education. Through a day-to-day collaboration and interaction, researchers and students have the opportunity to build a sound knowledge of the research methods and to experiment contamination of interests, innovative approaches and multicultural exchanges in all the GSSI activities. In addressing the complexity of today’s world, GSSI is committed to removing all barriers between its areas of study and research. The dissemination of scientific results towards society and the promotion of cultural events for generic public, citizens and schools are among GSSI goals. The doctoral school of L'Aquila celebrated ten years of activity with the inauguration of the academic year early this January and continues its journey in the wake of its strong international vocation. With over 190 students, almost half of whom comes from worldwide, and nearly one hundred of academic staff, it offers a dynamic environment and collaborations with numerous prestigious scientific institutions in Europe and around the world.
APERTO IL BANDO DI DOTTORATO PER L’ANNO ACCADEMICO 2024/25 al GSSI
E' stato pubblicato il nuovo bando per l’accesso al 40esimo ciclo del dottorato di ricerca. Le borse di studio a disposizione sono 42, distribuite nei quattro programmi accademici: 10 per Astroparticle Physics, 10 per Computer Science e 10 per Regional Science and Economic Geography; 12 per il programma di Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences. In merito a quest’ultimo, 2 borse sono finanziate nell’ambito dei due progetti dello ERC – European Research Council: 1 per il progetto CardioTrials e 1 per il progetto MatCh.
La lingua ufficiale per tutti i corsi di dottorato è l’inglese.
Il nuovo bando prevede una borsa di studio annuale lorda di 16.243 euro; alloggio nelle strutture del GSSI oppure un contributo sostitutivo, vitto e altri benefit elencati nel bando. La domanda di ammissione deve essere obbligatoriamente compilata utilizzando esclusivamente la procedura online disponibile sul sito web del GSSI all’indirizzo www.gssi.it/phd/. Non sono ammesse domande di partecipazione pervenute con modalità diverse.
Il termine di presentazione delle domande è fissato per il 23 maggio 2024 alle 15 (ora italiana) per il corso di dottorato in Astroparticle Physics, Computer Science, Regional Science and Economic Geography e Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences (incluso il progetto MaTCh). Per la sola borsa del progetto ERC CardioTrials, la scadenza è invece prevista per le ore 15 (ora italiana) del 26 agosto 2024.
Il GSSI - Gran Sasso Science Institute è una Scuola Universitaria Superiore con un spiccata vocazione internazionale che mira allo scambio e alla interdisciplinarità. Fondata nel 2012 all’Aquila come Centro di studi avanzati dell’INFN, Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, è stata riconosciuta come Scuola Universitaria Superiore a marzo 2016. In tutte le attività del GSSI gli studenti e i ricercatori, attraverso una quotidiana collaborazione e interazione, possono sperimentare contaminazioni di interessi, approcci innovativi e scambi multiculturali e hanno la possibilità di accedere a una conoscenza solida di metodi di ricerca. Nell'affrontare la complessità del mondo di oggi, il GSSI si impegna a rimuovere tutte le barriere tra le sue aree di studio e di ricerca, perché l'interdisciplinarità e un fertile scambio sono alla base della sua impostazione. Uno degli obiettivi del GSSI è, inoltre, la divulgazione dei risultati scientifici e la promozione di eventi culturali per il grande pubblico, i cittadini e le scuole. Il GSSI, che ha celebrato dieci anni di attività con l’inaugurazione dell’anno accademico avvenuta nei primi giorni di gennaio, prosegue il suo cammino nel solco della forte vocazione internazionale. Con oltre 190 studenti e studentesse, di cui quasi la metà stranieri, e circa cento persone nello staff accademico, offre un ambiente dinamico e collaborazioni con numerose e prestigiose istituzioni scientifiche in Europa e nel mondo.
