Open Advertisement for a Faculty Position of Associate Professor
in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Saga University

1. Outline

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Saga University, invites applications for
one full-time position of associate professor.

The Department, which has approximately 360 undergraduate and 60 graduate students including
Ph.D. students, is committed to excellence in teaching as well as in research. The Faculty conducts
research in diverse areas of electrical and electronic engineering, including energy, environment,
material, information processing, communications, and so on. Detail information can be found at the

2. Qualifications and Research Fields

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or a Doctor of Engineering or related field degree(s). 'The
Department will consider applicants with a research background in electric power transfer.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach effectively not only at the undergraduate but
also at the master’s and doctoral levels, and to develop active research programs. The candidate will
be also expected to lead regional revitalization and collaborations with other organizations along the
university’s future vision.

3. Language Requirements for Teaching

Japanese language at the standard of a native speaker (speaking, reading and writing) will be
essential for teaching at undergraduate/masters levels. At the graduate level, some English language
teaching may be feasible.

▪ List of five representative publications (Please attach reprints and show their impact

▪ List of acquired research grants
(ii) Summary of previous research (≤ 500 words)
(iii) Proposal for teaching and academic/research contribution at Saga University (≤ 500 words)
(iv) Copy of teaching portfolio or equivalent
(v) List of academic affiliations, including summary of activities in each of these
(vi) Contact details (including E-mail address and telephone number) of two references
(vii) Certificate of academic degree (Copy is not acceptable. It is required at the interview.)

Note: In addition to the printed matters, the PDF files of (i) to (vi) recorded on a CD-R must be
submitted. The application documents will not be returned.

7. Salary System

Annual Salary System adopted by the “Saga University Regulations about Annual Salary System
for Teaching Staff”; Full-time teaching staff members, except for those at the attached schools,
working at Saga University at the time when they apply can continue to choose the “Saga
University Regulations about Monthly Salary for Staff”.
