Assistant Professor

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Dalhousie University invites applications for a four-year limited term appointment as Assistant Professor in embedded system security for the Internet of Things (IoT).  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and be registered professional engineers or EIT in Canada and committed to registration in Nova Scotia.

The appointee will be expected to establish an independent, externally-funded research program, teach undergraduate courses in electrical engineering, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students associated with Dalhousie’s new business incubator, the Emera Innovation Hub.

The successful candidate should be an outstanding emerging scholar who has demonstrated strong research productivity in “side channel analysis” or a related area with the potential to achieve international recognition in security implementation for IoT devices.  The selected applicant will be a versatile teacher able to deliver a wide range of courses in electrical engineering.  Due to the unique nature of the link of this position to the Emera Innovation Hub, applicants should also have experience with entrepreneurship and start-up companies.
