Salary: $187,654 p.a. plus 17% superannuation


We are seeking to appoint a Professor in Biostatistics for an exciting new joint appointment between the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health (Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences) and the School of Mathematics and Statistics (Faculty of Science) at The University of Melbourne.


You will be the Director of a new Biostatistics Research Hub, which will provide a focal point for biostatistics research, and related interdisciplinary collaboration, research training and teaching in the two faculties. In particular, you will be expected to make significant contributions in research, with an emphasis on the development of modern statistical methods relevant to health and biomedical research, and contribute to teaching excellence of undergraduate and graduate course offerings in biostatistics.


You will also contribute to the strengthening of multi-disciplinary research that relies on expert biostatistical collaboration. There will be exciting opportunities to collaborate with biostatisticians located at the Biostatistics Research Hub as well as other Statistics and Mathematical and Computational Biology research groups affiliated with the Hub and the numerous health and biomedical researchers based at the University and University-affiliated hospitals and institutes.


To be the ideal candidate for this position, you will have an established or rapidly emerging international reputation in biostatistics, with a strong research profile and demonstrable capacity for leadership in research, training and collaboration. You will have a substantial track record of success in significant research grants and income as well as in attracting and supervising research students. Your experience and ability to lead and establish productive collaborations within biostatistics and with other disciplines in health and biomedical research is essential for this role.
