The Faculty of Business & Information Technology invites applications for a Lecturer in the area of Information Technology to commence July 1, 2018. This position is subject to budgetary approval.


Applicants shall possess at least a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (although a PhD is preferred), a strong academic background and prior university-level teaching experience in the fundamental aspects of computer science including algorithms, computer architecture, data structures, and programming. In addition, relevant industrial experience and experience in online and hybrid delivery is an asset. In keeping with our technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, strong computer skills are essential, and experience with Blackboard is an asset. This position will support students all the IT programs.


In addition, a proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies is required as is evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment with a range of faculty, staff and students. Excellent communication skills are essential. University level teaching experience, and experience in online and hybrid delivery is preferred.


Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. The duties will also include the technical support for labs. The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 80% teaching and 20% service workload each year.


The Faculty offers honour undergraduate degrees in Commerce (with major/minor in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, marketing, and technology management and minor in operations and supply chain management) and Information Technology (with specializations in game development and entrepreneurship, networking and IT security and technology management). We offer the Master of IT Security (MITS) degree. MSc and PhD programs in Computer Science are offered jointly by the Faculties of Business and IT, Engineering and Science.
