The mathematical department carries out research, postgraduate and undergraduate education in a wide range of mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. The number of employees is approximately 120 of which approximately 30 PhD students.

 

Assignments: A PhD student will mainly devote himself to his / her own postgraduate education covering 4 years. The work may also include a limited amount of (maximum 20%) other institutional services, mainly teaching on basic mathematics courses. If so, the employment expires within 5 years.

 

Qualification Requirements: For employment as a PhD student, the proprietor is required or will be admitted to postgraduate education, where the degree of ability to apply for postgraduate education is crucial. The applicant candidate should have a master's / master's degree or equivalent which includes a bachelor's degree or equivalent in mathematics, applied mathematics or statistics, or at least in all probability receive such a degree by September 1, 2018. Candidates should have good oral and written proficiency in English.

 

Application procedure : Applications must include a letter with a short and sweet describes himself and his research interests, past experiences and future visions. In addition, the application must include CV, copies of diplomas and grades, thesis work (or working copy thereof) and contact details of up to three reference persons. However, we do not wish to receive any letter of recommendation.

 

Provisions for PhD students are found in the Higher Education Ordinance 5 ch §§1-7 and in the university's rules and guidelines http://regler.uu.se/ .
