Phd position in Statistics
At the Department of Mathematics there is a vacancy for a PhD position in Statistics from August 2018. The position are for a fixed-term period of 3 years with a possibility for a 4th year.
About the project/work tasks: The position is intended to give promising candidates the opportunity to pursue advanced research leading to a doctoral degree within one of the fields of statistics represented at the department. These fields are actuarial science/finance, risk management, time series/econometrics, nonparametric statistics, spatial statistics, biostatistics/medical statistics and computational statistics.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
Personal and relational qualities will be emphasized. Ambitions and potential will also count when evaluating the candidates.
About the PhD position The fellowship will be for a period of 3 years, with the possibility for a 4th year, consisting of 25 % compulsory work (e.g. teaching responsibilities at the department) distributed across the employment period. The 4th year is contingent on the qualifications of the candidate and the teaching needs of the department, and will be decided upon appointment.
The employment period may be reduced if you have previously been employed in a PhD position.
About the research training As a PhD candidate, you must participate in an approved educational programme for a PhD degree within a period of 3 years. A final plan for the implementation of the research training must be approved by the faculty within three months after you have commenced in the position. It is a condition that you satisfy the enrolment requirements for the PhD programme at the University of Bergen.
