The Office of the Dean in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a definite-term appointment (two or three years with the possibility of renewal) at the rank of Lecturer with an expected start date of April 1, 2019. The Faculty requires a candidate who can teach a variety of courses in the area of mathematics for business and finance including topics such as derivatives, risk management, fixed income securities, financial statement analysis. The successful candidate should also have knowledge and practical experience in statistics and data analysis.

 

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or PhD in mathematics, finance, statistics or a related area. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, should demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching, industry involvement, a clear interest in undergraduate education and ideally at least one year of teaching experience. Duties will include teaching six courses per year and service/administrative work within the Mathematics Business and Accounting Programs.

 

The University of Waterloo is one of Canada’s leading universities with more than 30,000 full and part-time students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The Faculty of Mathematics has over 2500 students enrolled in the Mathematics Business and Accounting Programs studying mathematics with applications to various areas of business. In particular, we have strong interest in finance, accounting, business administration, IT management, mathematical economics and operations research.
