Research Associate in Mobile Robotics: Enabling a Pervasive Technology of the Future

We have an opportunity for a full-time Research Associate on “Mobile Robotics: Enabling a Pervasive Technology of the Future” in the area of robotic and human positioning and navigation systems in GPS-denied environments. The post will be under the supervision of Professor Niki Trigoni, head of the Cyber Physical Systems Group, in collaboration with Professors Paul Newman and Ingmar Posner (Oxford Engineering Science Dept.) and Professor Marta Kwiatkowska (Oxford Department of Computer Science). This cross-disciplinary project combines aspects of sensing, mapping, localisation, perception for action, learning from interaction and cooperation and verification. You will be developing novel approaches for long-term context inference in complex cyber physical systems that comprise intelligent sensors embedded in smart spaces, wearable devices and robots. Areas of interest include indoor localisation, mapping, person identification, activity recognition and object/scene recognition.


The primary selection criteria include a doctoral degree (or close to completion) in electrical engineering, computer science or related discipline, specialist knowledge in one of the above areas and proven track record of relevant publications.
