We are looking for a passionate Associate Professor or Professor with an outstanding track record of teaching and research in the discipline of Electrical Engineering. The successful applicant will be expected to develop, teach and convene units at a postgraduate and undergraduate level, while supervising Higher Degree Research students and leading, conducting and collaborating on research projects in the area of Electrical Engineering or related area.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strengths for future potential across other research and teaching streams of the School and contribute to the administration, outreach and promotion of the School of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering and the University.

About the Role

Essential

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power systems)
  • Demonstrated success in scholarly teaching with alternative/flexible teaching methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and curriculum development in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience and willingness to design and teach the following courses:Outstanding track record in research with outcomes of high quality and impact as well as evidence for research excellence and leadership
    • Renewable energy integration and Smart grid technologies
    • Power quality and protections
    • Electrical machines and drives
  • A strong track record in attracting significant competitive grant funding and industry funding
  • Proven experience in successfully recruiting and supervising higher degree research students to completion
  • A track record of significant involvement with the local and international profession and industry
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and advancing the principles of equity, inclusion and diversity in STEM workplaces
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff


Desirable

  • Teaching experience using Problem/Team Based Learning
  • Established collaboration with the Australian power utilities
  • Research experience in Cybersecurity in smart power grids and application of artificial intelligent in power systems
