Posting Summary

The Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education (CMSCE) invites applications for Part Time instructors for the Fall 2020 semester. We seek qualified instructors who can contribute to the University’s educational mission.

Successful candidates will instruct synchronous online credit courses in the fields of computer science, computational thinking and app/game development. Applicant’s core knowledge should include, but is not limited to, apple software and hardware, SWIFT programming language, pedagogy in project-based curriculum, computational thinking, app and game design, webpage development, data security, ethics in computer science, and global impacts in computer science.

Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

• Instructing course(s) at the level of higher-education (may include traditional lecture, hybrid, and/or fully online courses)
• Preparing course materials (i.e., syllabi, presentations, hand-outs, reading materials, etc.)
• Providing constructive feedback to students as well as critical instruction regarding student work and academic standards
• Responding to student emails and inquiries, and address any issues and/or concerns.
• Adhering to grade submission policies and deadlines
• Adhering to university policies and regulations
• Practicing innovative educational methodology

Minimum Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of computer science, computational thinking, or app/game development, or related areas. Higher education teaching experience.

PREFERRED:

Graduate degree preferred. Training teachers or adult learners preferred. NJ K-12 Teacher Certification and two years of K-12 teaching experience is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have high competency in SWIFT and strong understanding of the Apple Operating System (OS). Must be familiar with federal, state, local and University laws and regulations, especially those that apply to young children grades K-12.

Equipment Utilized

Candidate will use apple software and hardware (computer/laptop, ipad, smartphone, printer, etc.). Will also need to be knowledgeable of MS Office Suite and Adobe.
