The School of Science and Engineering comprises the disciplines delivering degree programmes in Biomedical, Civil, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering, Computing, Mathematics, and Physics as well as the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID). We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our staff as a Lecturer in Computing - Data Science (Teaching & Research). The successful candidate will significantly enhance our research and teaching strengths and foster interdisciplinary links across the wider University. We are looking for a candidate with a strong track record of research and a clear research plan that fits in or significantly expands our teaching and research in Data Science.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the research in Computing through the highest quality publications supported by appropriate research funding. For appointments at Grade 8, we would expect evidence of independent funding.


Your priorities will include:

 

Contribute to the research activities in the area of Data Science at the highest level (REF 3-4* quality)
Publish in high quality research journals and present work at major international conferences
Develop appropriate opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange with other academic or industrial partners
Support the full economic cost of research by generating grant income and/or industrial funding
Supervise research, masters, and undergraduate students
Who we're looking for:

PhD in a relevant subject

Ability to produce research outputs of internationally excellent quality
Ability to generate external funding for research projects
Ambitious research plans which will be competitive for RCUK, EU or equivalent funding streams and/or for industrial funding mechanisms
Experience of teaching at university (or equivalent) level
