Position Description
The Division of Engineering and Mathematics in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) invites applications for non-tenure track Lecturer Part-Time faculty in Mathematics. We are seeking one or more candidates to join our faculty on a part-time basis (50% - 100%) for a 9-month service period and with opportunities to teach during the summer. Appointments may be for multiple years (1-5 years). The start date is September 16, 2019.

Division faculty contribute to teaching and service. Faculty share an essential commitment to excellence in teaching and enhancing learning opportunities for a diverse student population. Instructional responsibilities for these positions are focused in the following pre-major mathematics courses: BMATH 121, 122, 123, 144, 215 and STMATH 124, 125, 126. Successful candidates will join a team that is enthusiastically committed to student access and excellence. Candidates will be expected to work with both the Mathematics program within the Division of Engineering and Mathematics and with First-Year and Pre-Major Programs (FYPP) in order to best support our students. Most of our pre-major mathematics courses are coordinated by a full-time faculty member; at a minimum, all faculty teaching one of these courses will use a common textbook, teach a common set of topics, and give a common final exam. Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.S. or M.A. in mathematics or related fields, or foreign equivalent, by the date of hire.
Two years of experience teaching courses in the pre-calculus sequence, calculus sequence and/or statistics.
Demonstrated commitment to first-year pre-major students.
