The Opportunity


Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a key strategic direction for Monash IT focusing on developing new research in the Computer-Human Interaction and Creativity (CHIC) Research Group. CHIC’s world-class research facilities include AR/VR labs and SensiLab, a multi-million dollar interdisciplinary research space for innovation, digital design and fabrication.


We are currently seeking two Lecturer/Senior Lecturers to join the newly formed Inclusive Technologies Subgroup of CHIC. This Subgroup focuses on how emerging computing technologies can be used to improve the lives of children and adults with diverse abilities.


Each Lecturer/Senior Lecturer is expected to conduct research of the highest-quality, supervise and support postgraduate research students and apply for external research funding to support their activities. They will also be expected to be active in the international HCI and inclusive technologies research community.


Lecturer/Senior Lecturers are also expected to contribute to education within the Faculty. This will include teaching into undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as supervision of student projects.


The successful candidates will have a doctoral or masters qualification, and/or have recognised significant experience in the discipline area. We’ll be looking at candidate’s experience with respect to teaching, research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or contributions to technical achievement  A track record of engagement with community and disability organisations is also desirable.


While this role is a full-time position, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
