Emmy Noether Junior Research Group At the University of Göttingen - Public Law Foundation -, Institut für Informatik, there is a position as PhD student in the Emmy Noether junior research group (all genders welcome) Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L/75% to be filled. Starting date is 9/1/2026. The position is for a limited period of 36 months. The doctoral candidate will work in Dr. Johannes Hertrich’s Emmy Noether junior research group as part of the project “Flow-based Generative Models and Optimal Transport for Sampling and Inverse Problems” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The project focuses on generative models, optimal transport and inverse problems, as well as the efficient implementation and application of these methods in image processing. About us The Emmy Noether junior research group “Flow-based Generative Models and Optimal Transport for Sampling and Inverse Problems” focuses on the mathematical foundations of machine learning, in particular generative models and reconstruction algorithms for inverse problems. In doing so, we work on both the theoretical foundations and their implementation and application. What we expect You hold a Master of Science degree (or an equivalent degree) in mathematics, computer science or related fields. You have a perfect command of written and spoken English. You have experience with scientific computing environments (e.g. Python). Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g. PyTorch or JAX) is a major advantage. Prior knowledge in one or more areas of optimal transport, inverse problems and generative models is a significant advantage. What we expect

You hold a Master of Science degree (or an equivalent degree) in mathematics, computer science or related fields.
