The new Professor in Cyber Security will sit within Aston University's Computer Science department in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, which is making a strategic investment in Cyber Security. Research strengths within the Computer Science department are diverse and multidisciplinary in nature which in addition to Cyber Security include AI, robotics, machine learning, natural language processing, HCI, digital health and software engineering. We value impactful research designed to promote solutions to practical problems. We have excellent links to industry with a strong portfolio of externally-funded research projects. Beginning with a new BSc in Cyber Security, the department aims to develop a range of Cyber Security programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level which are founded upon a growing volume of impactful Cyber Security research within the team.

We are looking for an individual who is able to provide leadership in both research and teaching to the small but growing team of Cyber Security specialists; who is able to clearly articulate ambition for the Cyber Security research group and has a clear vision of how to achieve it. In addition to established academics the post may suit an individual whose recent background has been in industry or government who can demonstrate both enthusiasm for a move into academia and the potential to thrive there.
