Professorship(W3) on Software Engineering


(succession of Prof. Dr. Walter F. Tichy)


The research area of the professorship are innovative software engineering methods for modern software applications. We address candidates from all areas of software engineering.


Readiness to contribute to the strategic focus areas of the KIT Department of Informatics, in particular "Secure and Dependable Systems" or "Algorithms and Data Science" is of advantage.


In case of interest and of relevant experience, there is the opportunity to participate in the Competence Center for Applied Security Technology (KASTEL) as well as in Helmholtz initiatives in the topic area "Information & Data Science".


In teaching, the professorship contributes to the education of students of the KIT Department of Informatics. Participation in undergraduate teaching of basic courses in computer science in the German language is expected. A transition period for acquiring German language skills is provided.


We are looking for a candidate with outstanding scientific qualifications and an outstanding international reputation in the above-mentioned field of research. Skills in the acquisition of third-party funding and the management of scientific working groupsare expected, as well as very good didactic skills both in basic computer science lectures and in in-depth courses on subjects within the research area of the professorship.


According to § 47 of the Baden-Wuerttemberg University Act (Landeshochschulgesetz des Landes Baden-Württemberg), a university degree, teaching aptitude and exceptional competence in scientific work are required.
