in the field of "Math­em­at­ics - Math­em­at­ical Mod­el­ling of Indus­trial Life Cycles".

The pro­fess­or­ship is part of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Sci­ence (WvSC).

Work­ing field:

The pos­i­tion requires research and teach­ing in the devel­op­ment, ana­lysis and imple­ment­a­tion of math­em­at­ical meth­ods for the auto­mat­ized, energy based gen­er­a­tion of model hier­arch­ies, for the data based iden­ti­fic­a­tion of model para­met­ers, as well as error ana­lysis and uncer­tainty quan­ti­fic­a­tion. It is expec­ted that the suc­cess­ful applic­ant will par­ti­cip­ate in major research pro­jects, such as col­lab­or­at­ive research cen­ters and research train­ing groups, such as CRC 1029 TurbIn, CRC 910, RTG DAEDALUS, CRC TRR 154, and the cluster of excel­lence MATH+. Teach­ing will be required in all math­em­at­ical degree pro­grams (includ­ing under­gradu­ate) and in the ser­vice teach­ing of math­em­at­ics for other pro­grams. Can­did­ates should be able to teach in Ger­man and Eng­lish. Fur­ther­more, can­did­ates are expec­ted to super­vise stu­dents’ theses on Bach­elor, Mas­ter and PhD level as well as to par­ti­cip­ate in the aca­demic admin­is­tra­tion of the uni­versity.

Require­ments:

Suc­cess­ful applic­ants must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act). These include a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion in math­em­at­ics or a com­par­able dis­cip­line, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (doc­tor­ate in math­em­at­ics), addi­tional aca­demic achieve­ments and ped­ago­gical-didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be demon­strated by teach­ing exper­i­ence and visu­al­ized in a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for fur­ther inform­a­tion see TUB Web­site, quick access no. 144242, details will be sent upon request). Can­did­ates should have an inter­na­tion­ally vis­ible pro­file based on excel­lent achieve­ments in cur­rent math­em­at­ical research as demon­strated by rel­ev­ant pub­lic­a­tions in peer-reviewed journ­als. She or he should work in an area of Math­em­at­ical Mod­el­ing and be able to rep­res­ent the field in research and teach­ing. Rel­ev­ant exper­i­ence in teach­ing, includ­ing the super­vi­sion of Bach­elor's, Mas­ter's and PhD theses, as well as exper­i­ence in admin­is­trat­ive duties and exper­i­ence in third-party fun­ded and joint research pro­jects is expec­ted. Com­pet­en­cies in the pro­mo­tion of junior research­ers and women as well as in the area of gender and diversity are desired. The area of research expert­ise should allow an integ­ra­tion in the work­ing group “Mod­el­ing, Numer­ics and Dif­fer­en­tial Equa­tions” and the WvSC as well as fur­ther col­lab­or­at­ive research pro­jects. An adequate involve­ment in the Ber­lin Math­em­at­ical School (BMS) and the Ber­lin Inter­na­tional Gradu­ate School in Model and Sim­u­la­tion based Research (BIMoS) is desired.
