Professor in Software Engineering (Associate or Full Professor)
The Institute of Computer Science (https://www.inf.unibe.ch) at the Faculty of Science of the University of Bern, Switzerland, invites applications for a professor in Software Engineering. The starting date is 1 January 2022. The successful candidate is expected to build a strong research program in one or more of the following areas: software development, programming languages, software reliability, fault-tolerant software architectures, (empirical) software engineering, verification and validation of software, concurrent and parallel programming, performance optimization of software systems, testing of software, software visualization, software evolution.
In addition to establishing a research group, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Bachelor program in Computer Science at the University of Bern and to the Master program in the Swiss Joint Master in Computer Science. Cooperation within the institute, with other research groups at the University of Bern, and with other universities (especially with the universities of Fribourg and Neuchâtel) is encouraged.
Requirements: Habilitation or proof of equivalent academic qualification, the ability to teach in German (in the Bachelor program, after a certain period of time) and in English (in the Master program).
Appointment level: The announcement is made at the level of associate professor or full professor (the appointment will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications).
