Have you been driving your field of science towards new directions using machine learning algorithms? Join us as Early Career Group Leader (m/f/d, E13/E14 TV-L, 100%) The Cluster of Excellence "Machine Learning - New Perspectives for Science" at the University of Tübingen offers several positions to be filled as soon as possible. We are looking for aspiring scientists working on machine learning in a wide sense: either pursuing research on core machine learning or applying machine learning to a scientific discipline of your choice, be it the natural sciences, social sciences, or life sciences. The early career group leader positions are especially suited for talented, promising researchers right after the PhD. A finished PhD is mandatory to start (but not to apply). The position is fixed-term (until 31.12.2025), with a salary according to the German public sector (E 13 or E 14 TV-L). The group leader receives funding for one PhD student as well as running costs. The cluster aims to actively address the underrepresentation of women and therefore strongly welcomes applications from talented female researchers. The group is embedded into the lively and interactive environment of the Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning – New Perspectives for Science” at the University of Tübingen (www.ml-in-science.uni-tuebingen.de), the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics and the Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media. Together, we would like to find out how machine learning can change science. Together with the usual documents (cover letter, curriculum vitae, copies of certificates, list of publications) please send a 1 page pitch on how your research can change a scientific discipline (as a single PDF; not exceeding 5 MB) to the Central Office of the Cluster of Excellence (ml-in-science) by May 31, 2022. Questions can also be directed to the Central Office. @uni-tuebingen.de The positions are funded by equal opportunity funds. The University and the cluster aims to increase the proportion of women in research and therefore urges suitably qualified women scientists to apply. Qualified international researchers or researchers of groups underrepresented in science are expressly invited to apply. Disabled persons with equal aptitude will be given preferential consideration. Staffing will be conducted by the central administration of the University of Tübingen.
