Assistant Professor of Mathematics Florida Institute of Technology

Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to start in August 2024. Outstanding candidates with adequate academic or Industrial experience and a demonstrated ability for forging collaborations with the industry may be considered for Associate Professor or a full professor rank.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a research program with an international stature and scholarly recognition through publications and other modes of disseminating ideas
  • Develop a robust portfolio of externally funded support for research and training
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Teach three single-semester courses per year, usually at the upper-division and graduate levels. Develop and deliver course materials to students in traditional, hybrid, and online platforms demonstrating teaching excellence and high-impact scholarship
  • Contribute both institutionally and professionally through active service

 

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or Systems Engineering by the start of the appointment.
  • Applicants who can establish interdisciplinary collaborations and industry connections through their research program.
  • Having a post-doctoral and/or funded research experience is a plus.

 

Expected Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience

Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering (MSE) is in the College of Engineering. Currently, in addition to the BS, MS and Ph.D. programs in Applied Mathematics, the MSE department offers MS and Ph.D. degrees in Systems Engineering and Operations Research for on-campus students. Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
