Assistant Professor of Computer Science Tenure-Track Assistant, Associate, of Full Professor of Computer Science The Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen has a vision to strategically expand our department to maintain and expand our national and international leadership in computer science. We are looking for both Tenure-Track Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Full Professors within all areas of Computer Science. The position is open from 1 August 2025 or later. It is a high priority at our department to foster a research environment of the highest quality allowing people from diverse backgrounds to thrive. You will join a rapidly growing department with strong research sections in the areas of Human-Centred Computing; Algorithms and Complexity; Machine Learning; Natural Language Processing; Software, Data, People, and Society; Programming Languages and Theory of Computing; Artificial Intelligence; and Image Analysis, Computational Modeling, and Geometry. We are heading multiple centres within computer science, including the SCIENCE AI Center and the Pioneer Center for Artificial Intelligence. About the Department of Computer Science Our research in Computer Science is at the forefront of the field, and our interdisciplinary collaborations cover a broad range of societally important areas, emphasizing research in both theoretical and applied areas. One focus of the department is investigating how we, ethically and efficiently, can shape future digital technologies and ensure that they are adapted to the needs of people and society. Living in Copenhagen Description of the position As an Associate and Full Professor, you will tend your own research while simultaneously working to develop the field of research. Other work includes assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management, such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. You will also teach, supervise bachelor and master students, prepare, and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the department. Qualifications Associate Professor Full Professor Terms of employment Negotiation for salary supplement and relocation expenses is possible. The mid-term evaluation typically takes place after three years of employment, and the final evaluation no later than after 6 years of employment. After the 6-year period, you are expected to meet the criteria for appointment of Associate Professors at the University of Copenhagen. Performance and progression towards the criteria will be evaluated with due consideration of differences between research fields. Upon a positive final appraisal, you will be promoted to Associate Professor, which is a permanent position.
