To the Science, Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT) Department MICAS KU Leuven has a full-time job in the academic staff profile with the design and fabrication of nano-electronic multifunction systems. We're looking for internationally oriented candidates with an excellent research record and teaching competence in the field of nanotechnology.

Design and fabrication of nano-electronic multifunction systems

MICAS Division of the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT) conducts research on microelectronic circuits and sensors. This includes both circuit design and research on MEMS. The department has previously developed an adequate research infrastructure, including the new Corelab Group Science & Technology.

research

The semiconductor technology is constantly evolving into ever smaller dimensions and, because the CMOS scaling will reach its limits, to the use of components other than CMOS ( 'beyond CMOS "or" More than Moore ") ranging from organic polymer technologies (which allow for example to pliable or create stretchable systems) on silicon MEMS and optical technologies to nano devices such as tunnel-FETs, carbon nanotubes, nanowires, graphene, etc. such developments make many new applications, but put on the other major challenges for the design of circuits and systems in this new technologies. It requires innovative design techniques and extensive technological research in order to be such a multidisciplinary environment of active structures.

This vacancy thus focuses on research into the design of integrated nano-electronic systems and has a very large interest in other disciplines, such as optics, microfluidics, assembly and packaging techniques.

In this context, the Department MICAS looking for a full-renowned researcher in the field of MEMS technology with a clear affinity for applications in the automotive and especially the medical sector, where there is already an extensive network is in place and should be continued. This person is expected to the international reputation of the department in the investigation of the design and fabrication of MEMS and medical systems further strengthens and expands. It is obvious that this is happening in a multidisciplinary context, both within the department and outside. It is explicitly given to cooperation with local and international research and exploit the many opportunities for industrial cooperation. Supervising doctorates at KU Leuven here makes explicit part of it.

The candidate is expected that he / she is able to work actively and successfully to preserve the delicate balance between sufficient core funding (usually from the government and the university) for the basic long-term research and more applied projects with the industry. The industrial exploitation of the results is an obvious part of the job.

Education

You provide quality education in the field of technology for nano systems, with a clear commitment to the quality of the program as a whole. You also contributes to the educational project of the faculty / university by the guidance of master's theses and as supervisor of doctoral students.

Develop your education according to the vision of the University of Leuven in activating and research based education and utilizes the opportunities for educational training offered by the faculty and the university.

services

Scientific, social and internal services are also part of your job. Among other things expected to participate in program committees of international conferences, social discussion forums and the like.

requirements

You have a PhD in Engineering or a related doctoral degree.

You have experience in research on nanotechnology structures.

You have experience in setting up and managing technology infrastructure in a clean room environment.

You have a strong research record in the field. The research quality is demonstrated by publications in leading international journals or books. International experience is a major plus.

You have proven abilities for academic education. Teaching experience is a plus.

You have organizational skills and you're set collegial. You also possesses leadership skills in a university setting.
