Faculty member in Computer Engineering Job Description The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) offers a four-year nationally accredited Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Computer Engineering. The primary goal of the program is to provide students with a firm understanding of the basic principles of electrical engineering and information technology and a broad introduction to electronics, the design of digital computer systems, software development, data communications, and networking. We are currently seeking to fill one faculty position beginning in August 2016. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and must have demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching and research at the undergraduate level. The required area of interest and expertise is Computer and Data Networks. Primary responsibilities include Teaching undergraduate courses in a variety of areas in Computer engineering (particularly Computer Networking courses). Establishment and/or continued development of a nationally or internationally recognized research program. Participation in departmental, school, and university committees. Advising and mentoring students at the undergraduate level. Participation in outreach activities, such as continuing education workshops. Required Qualifications Minimum qualification includes a doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Effective communication skills. Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse student population. Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines. University teaching experience an asset.
