Responsibility
|
Responsible to the Dean of the College of Engineering, Science & Technology through the Head of Department /School, or the program coordinator, the appointee will be required to teach Mathematics and its related programmes at various levels, including both undergraduate and postgraduate units and carry out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, and exam paper preparation & marking, are to be implemented according to policies and procedures.

The Candidate should possess a PhD and Masters in Mathematics from a recognized university with 10 years’ or more relevant teaching experience. Demonstrated research outcomes, or product design/development and/or patenting outcomes and/or project leadership/management outcomes and/or strong publications in journals, and/or significant number of consultancy outcomes, is essential. Tertiary teaching experience or industrial/professional experiences or professional training experiences are necessary, but outstanding research/publication record and/or national recognition for academic leadership, can be substituted for teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to supervise students at masters and PhD levels is necessary.
Demonstrated record of providing intellectual/academic leadership, and research/publication mentoring and/or outstanding research, publication and consultancy achievements are necessary.
Significant tertiary teaching experience or professional training , are necessary. Internationally recognized research/publication can be substituted for extensive teaching experience.
The successful applicant is required to contribute to teaching of exiting units at undergraduate level Engineering Computations and Engineering Mathematics, and undergraduate and postgraduate level Advanced Differential Equations, Advanced Algebra, Advanced Discrete Mathematics, Coding Theory and Cryptography.
Associate Professor should be able to provide leadership and foster excellence in research, teaching and/or policy development in his/her area of expertise, and/or in professional, commercial or industrial sectors.
Associate Professor shall have attained recognition as an eminent authority in his/her discipline.
