The Military Technological College (MTC) is a new cross service state-of-the-art and well-resourced campus. 

MTC delivers academic programmes in collaboration with, and externally validated by, the University of Portsmouth. The University awards internationally recognised Bachelor Degree and Diploma of Higher Education qualifications for MTC programmes. The mission of MTC is to deliver trade, specialist, undergraduate and post-graduate engineering programmes for all Oman MOD service personnel.

Appointed candidates will be employees of MTC. Salary scales shown are in Omani Rials (OMR) Tax free and inclusive of housing and car allowance. Appointed Candidates will receive an additional one month's basic salary as a gratuity at the end of each year. Additional provisions include return air flights to home country, medical cover and school fee assistance (Max 3000 OMR per annum). You will be a member of a highly professional committed team in a Centre of Excellence that will contribute to the sustainable development of engineering training and education in the Sultanate.

Relevant background and expertise and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.

Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Instructor - Minimum BSc or equivalent; 7 years professional experience in the field; Recognised professional qualification is desirable. 
  • Lecturer - Minimum 3 years academic experience; proven track record and qualified to minimum Master Degree or equivalent
  • Senior Lecturer - Minimum 5 years academic experience with track record in learning, teaching and assessment; qualified to minimum Master Degree (preferable PhD). 
  • Principal Lecturer - Minimum 7 years of Academic Experience, to include curriculum development and QA in HE sector, qualified to minimum Master Degree, PhD desirable

For Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Principal Lecturer: Professional Membership (CEng/IEng) / HEA Fellowship (or equivalent) desirable

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake teaching duties in the Systems Engineering Department as appropriate in related subjects at foundation year (UK FHEQ level 3) and undergraduate degree levels (4,5,6).
  2. Develop and deliver teaching modules and course assessment material for delivery as required.
  3. Contribute to assessment and examinations including marking, moderation and providing timely feedback as required by College policy.
  4. Contribute to administrative tasks and duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
  5. Contribute to research and/or knowledge transfer in areas related to the existing themes and activities within the College.
