The School offers a vibrant educational and research environment in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics. It has many well established national and international collaborative research linkages.

In order to strengthen its teaching and research capabilities, the School wishes to appoint a candidate who will actively contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision and research in Computer Science.

The successful applicant will report to the Academic Leader of the Discipline.

Minimum Requirements:

Professor:

• A relevant PhD degree Experience in teaching Computer Science at a tertiary institution Evidence of research scholarship, particularly in Computer Science, appropriate for this level as evidenced by publications in ISI/DHET or SAPSE-rated journals
• Successful supervision of MSc and PhD students
• Demonstrated ability to attract external research funds Evidence of strong academic leadership

Associate Professor:

• A relevant PhD degree Experience in teaching Computer Science at a tertiary institution Evidence of research scholarship, particularly in Computer Science, appropriate for this level as evidenced by publications in ISI/DHET or SAPSE-rated journals
• Successful supervision of MSc and PhD students
• Demonstrated ability to attract external research funds Senior

Lecturer:

• A relevant PhD degree Experience in teaching Computer Science at a tertiary institution Evidence of research scholarship, particularly in Computer Science, appropriate for this level as evidenced by publications in ISI/DHET or SAPSE-rated journals
• Successful supervision of MSc and/or PhD students

Lecturer:

A relevant Masters degree Experience in teaching Computer Science at a tertiary institution Evidence of research scholarship, particularly in Computer Science, appropriate for this level as evidenced by publications in ISI/DHET or SAPSE-rated journals.

The successful candidate at Lecturer level will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years from date of assumption of duty.
