Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor in Computing Science/ Information Systems (3 Positions)
FACULTY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY & ENVIRONMENT School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences - FMA012 The University of the South Pacific has campuses in twelve Pacific Island countries with its Headquarters in Suva, Fiji. The appointees will be based in the main Laucala campus, and Headquarters but will teach across all campuses. The School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences is one of the largest schools in the University of the South Pacific and is sufficiently resourced to pursue excellence in teaching and research. The School offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Computing Science, Information Systems and Mathematics. The School is offering two professional programmes in Computing Science, Bachelor of Net-Centric Computing and Bachelor of Software Engineering. These are four-year programmes, which are accredited by the Australian Computer Society. With the growth of the computing science programmes the School is searching for faculty who can join the existing, dynamic Team and take the School forward. The Opportunity The appointee will be required to demonstrate the ability and willingness to teach courses at all levels (undergraduate and postgraduate) and a range of standard topics, especially, in the areas of software engineering, network and security, and information systems. The applicant should also demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in English. The Person We Seek For appointment at the Lecturer level, applicants must have a PhD in Computing Science or Information Systems, a formal tertiary teaching qualification OR good relevant tertiary teaching experience; the ability and willingness to teach a range of standard topics in the respective streams, willingness to undertake research and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level: Applicants must have a PhD in Computing Science, or Information Systems with a good, relevant undergraduate degree, substantial teaching experience, experience in curriculum development, the ability and willingness to teach at all levels (undergraduate and postgraduate), experience in postgraduate supervision and a demonstrated ability and competence in research. For appointment at the Associate Professor level: Applicants must have a PhD in Computing Science or Information Systems with a good undergraduate degree in the same area, substantial teaching experience, experience in curriculum development, the ability and willingness to teach at all levels (undergraduate and postgraduate), experience in postgraduate supervision and demonstrated ability and competence in research and to lead a research team. The candidate must demonstrate a record of scholarly and professional achievement in the discipline. Preference will be given to applicants with: Experience in distance and flexible learning and demonstrated excellence in teaching in a multicultural environment. Remuneration The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement. Salary Range: Lecturer FJ $66 990 to FJ $88, 144 per annum Senior Lecturer FJ $90, 882 to FJ $104, 865 per annum Associate Professor: FJ $111 229 to FJ $125 133 per annum Enquiries: Dr. M. G. M.
