The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire outstanding researchers at its Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT).
SnT is a recently formed centre carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners. SnT is active in several international research projects.

Your Role
We offer attractive PhD candidate positions including industrial PhD positions conducting research in close cooperation with an industrial partner.
The successful candidates will join the Computer Vision Lab managed by Dr. Djamila Aouada as part of the SIGCOM group of Prof. Björn Ottersten in order to pursue a PhD in the general area of Computer Vision. They will carry out research in predefined topics contributing to SIGCOM’s activities in computer vision and pattern recognition. All projects require conducting full scale experiments, including real-time implementation, data acquisition, training and validation at the SnT Computer Vision Lab.
The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:
- Carrying out research in a predefined topic and producing results
- Disseminating results through scientific publications
- Providing support in setting up and running experiments in the SnT Computer Vision laboratory
- Proposing and implementing real-time solutions
- Participating in proposal writing
- Participating in organizing relevant workshops and demonstrations

Your Profile
A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field
- Strong background in image/signal processing and in computer vision
- Strong programming skills in Matlab/C/C++
- Strong mathematical background
- Commitment, team working and a critical mind
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory

The University offers a fixed term contract up to 3 years in total, pending satisfaction of progress milestones (CDD), full time (40 hrs/week).
