Applications are being taken for a full-time fixed-term position (Associate Professor or Professor) at the College of Information Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University. Prospective applicants should have substantial teaching and research experience in the area of e-Society. Examples of the relevant fields include but are not limited to Social Network Analysis and its Applications, e-Government, e-Health, e-Learning, and e-Democracy.
Duties (1) Serve as liaison connecting the College to academic and government institutions on a global scale to promote e-Society education and research. Develop joint education and research programs in the area specified above, including the establishment of courses jointly conducted with leading universities, worldwide. Participate in undergraduate and graduate student research, and teach the following undergraduate lecture courses (in English): Experimentation (Human Data), Applied Informatics (Domain Specific Methods), Professional Ethics, Data Science.
(2) Other duties include participating in administrative activities of the College of Information Science and Engineering, developing undergraduate and graduate curricula, and organizing international academic events.

Qualifications: (1) Applicants must have a PhD degree in a relevant field of science. (2) Applicants must have extensive research experience substantiated with internationally recognized publications. (3) Applicants must have university teaching experience. (4) Applicants must have experience in organizing globally-recognized academic events. (5) Applicants must demonstrate a high level of English proficiency.

(5) An essay of approximately 1000 words explaining the applicant's current research and plans for future work. (6) An essay of approximately 1000 words explaining the applicant's aspirations to establish a liaison connecting the College to academic and government institutions on a global scale. (7) Names of two references who are persons familiar with the applicant's work (or two reference letters), including the references' affiliations, contact information, and relationship to the applicant.
