Post-Doctoral Researcher in Empirical Software Engineering University of Oulu, Department of Computer Science
Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (http://www.oulu.fi/tol/) and M3S (Empirical Software Engineering in Software, Systems and Services) research unit (http://www.oulu.fi/mgroup/) at the University of Oulu, Finland, is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow in Empirical Software Engineering, starting preferably at Sep 2016. The successful applicant will carry out their postdoc in the research areas of mining software repositories, affective computing, and behavioral software engineering. This research is part of a recently granted Academy of Finland grant, led by Professor Mika Mäntylä. M3S’s collaboration with industry provides the empirical environment for the research. Software Factory and the related ecosystem with companies and other software factories provides an environment in which the research unit can carry out student experiments as well as industrial experiments and case studies. M3S has a long tradition in international collaboration. The research unit is a member of the software engineering research network ISERN (M3S director Prof. Oivo is one of its six founding members) and has actively participated in large European research projects since the 1990’s. Over 30% of the research unit is international members. There are two world-class FiDiPro professors working in the research unit. Members of the research unit have published their research in leading software engineering journals and conferences, e.g. IEEE Transactions on SE, IEEE Software, Empirical SE, Information and Software Technology, Journal of Systems and Software, and International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE). The post-doc positions is available for a minimum of 2 years (extension negotiable). Starting salary will be based on the job specific level 5 or 6 according to the university salary system for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In practice, the salary will be about 3300-4000 EUR at the start of the period. The salary is paid for 12 months in a year. Additionally, the post-doctoral researcher is entitled to health care benefits.
