University College of Southeast Norway was established 1 January 2016, and has about 16 000 students and about 1500 employees. The university college is temporarily organized in eight faculties, with instruction and R&D activities on eight campuses. The main profile of the university college is to provide socially relevant education, geared towards specific professions, and adapted to the requirements of the workplace, as well as to produce applied research and development. Research fellow in Ultrasound Technology The Faculty of Technology and Maritime Sciences has a vacancy for a position as Research Fellow in Medical Ultrasound Technology from 01.08.2016 or as soon as possible. The position is attached to the Department of Micro- and Nanosystem Technology and reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is Bakkenteigen, Vestfold. The PhD project is part of the larger research centre CIUS, a Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI) appointed by the Norwegian Research Council where industry, healthcare providers, independent research organizations and academia collaborate to develop next generations’ ultrasound solutions. Information about the positionThe central research topic will be to obtain a deep understanding of the electro-acoustic transfer function of medical ultrasound arrays, and how this influences the image quality. SalaryThe position is placed in the state salary scale 50 (code 1017, LR 20.8). Further promotion will be based on service in the position. In special cases, employment in code 1378 may be considered. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee’s salary to the state pension plan.
