The Department of Mathematics at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a one-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor.

Date of Appointment: August 2016 Description of Responsibilities: Will teach a broad range of undergraduate mathematics courses, including introductory and intermediate applied statistics, together with holding office hours and helping individual students outside class. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. In addition, will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, be committed to undergraduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or the Mathematical Sciences; teaching experience at the college-level (possibly as a graduate teaching assistant); and a commitment to working with students of diverse backgrounds. Description of Department: We are a collegial department of 19 full-time faculty, offering a BA in Mathematics and BS in Applied Mathematics, plus a joint program BS in Applied Mathematical Economics, minors in Applied Statistics and in Mathematics, and concentrations for future childhood and adolescent teachers. About 18 majors graduate each year, in addition to graduates in adolescent mathematics education. We are dedicated to engaging teaching and to high standards in all of our courses. Faculty are expected to work closely with students and to stay active in the profession.
