Associate Professor for Mathematics and its Didactics (M/F)

Your Role
The Associate Professor will :
- be part of the Research Unit in Mathematics (RMATH). The research unit carries out fundamental and applied research in Algebra, Analysis, Geometry, Probability and Modelling.
- incorporate the aspects of applied mathematical didactics in his research activities. It is expected that he will foster the contact of the RMATH with Luxembourg’s institutions of secondary education and he will be active in outreach activities.
- teach especially in the Master of Secondary Education – Mathematics and participate in the administration of this study programme. In addition he will engage in the Bachelor in Science (BASI) and the Master in Mathematics (MM), as well as in teaching mathematics in other
- supervise and train PhD students at the RMATH.
Your Profile
- PhD in Mathematics
- A minimum of three years of post-doctoral experience in Mathematics acquired in a university or comparable research centre
- An appropriate international research profile, conference participation
- Strong research profile related to one or more of the fields Algebra, Analysis and/or Geometry.
- A university-level teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate and/or postgraduate level
- Research expertise in algebra, analysis or geometry
- Expertise in didactics in these fields
- Experience in education methods in mathematic
- Administrative experience, preferably in the administration of study programmes and other fields related to science and education
- Organisational experience
- Experience with outreach activities will be an asset.
Languages: The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual and multicultural context. Fluency in English is required. For this position, an excellent command of French or German is required, the other language must be at least passively understood.
