Professorship of Computer Science University of Bonn, Department of Computer Science

The Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (b-it) at University of Bonn is seeking applications for a W3-Professorship in Computer Science: Data Science and Engineering to be filled as soon as possible. The successful applicant should have an internationally recognized scientific profile in one or more of the following areas: Data Representation, Storage and Management for structured and unstructured data Data-intensive algorithms for modern computing environments (in-memory, GPU, streaming, distributed, cloud) Computational approaches to Data Quality, Complexity, Reliability, Integrity, Provenance, Monetization (such as blockchain data management) Scientific Applications of Big Data concepts, e.g. in the life sciences The professorship carries out excellent research in the above areas and is expected to offer a corresponding program of teaching in computer science at both bachelor (in German) and master level (in English) in the different computer science programs at University of Bonn. Close cooperation with b-it’s partner institutions is expected, as is the ability to position b-it with external stakeholders in society and economy. The acquisition of research funds and the willingness to participate in cooperative research proposals of the computer science faculty and Bonn would be highly desirable.
